Free Pattern Friday: Forest Spirit Amigurumi

Welcome to this week's Free Pattern Friday! Today's pattern is a 9" tall forest spirit. The pattern is available on Ravelry or you can find it written below. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at icrochetthings@gmail.com.

So I recently watched The Legend of Korra for the first time and this was one of my favorite characters in the show, even if he was only onscreen for a minute. All of the spirits were pretty cute but I liked this guy the best.

The pattern itself isn't too bad, though the body is a bit complicated. The feet to the head are all worked in one piece as I was practicing making different shapes, so that could be a bit troublesome. The pattern for the leaves looks wordy but it's simple once you get going. Happy crocheting and TGIF!

Materials:
▪  Worsted weight yarn in dark green, medium green, light green, white
▪  E hook (3.50 mm)
▪  Stuffing
▪  Scissors
▪  Tapestry needle

Difficulty: Medium
You should know how to work in the round, increase, decrease, work in the back loops, half double crochet, and double crochet.

Pattern: Amaterasu Amigurumi

A 5" tall amigurumi of Amaterasu from Okami. The pattern is available on Ravelry and on Etsy. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at icrochetthings@gmail.com.

So this pattern has been in the works for quite a while now. Initially, after I made the Unicorn and Pegasus patterns, I made another Amaterasu amigurumi that was loosely based off the same pattern. That was right before I had a very long crocheting hiatus, so when I got back into crocheting about a month ago I decided that it looked pretty bad and made another one. I really liked how this one turned out. The face actually looks pretty good, which I think is one of my weak points in amigurumi. And I'm totally obsessed with using felt in my projects now. It's really versatile and easy to work with as long as you have a felting needle (I can't sew worth crap :P).

Working on a bunch of stuff. I'm also in the process of frogging a bunch of really old amigurumi and harvesting their yarn for newer projects. Very satisfying to rip apart the old junk.

ASDFASDFASDFUOENFUEWPO
FINALLY. IT'S DONE.
I have spent almost the entirety of January exclusively working on these. Not only did I make all 9 of them, but I remade about half of them after my initial pattern looked a bit off. I think I must have made at least 20 different amigurumi before finally finishing. Protip: don't be as big of a perfectionist as I am. Last night I decided I still didn't like them and scrapped one of them, only to realize that the way I wanted to redo them looked terrible, so I remade that one again. Yes, I'm insane.

I'm taking a break from crocheting after this. Going to go back to drawing for a bit. I have an old pattern ready for Free Pattern Friday, then after that I'm going to finally start putting new free patterns up. I can't wait to make something simple.
