So yeah, life basically exploded and I haven't had the ability/ motivation to crochet in a while. But that's going to change soon! The winter months are coming and it's about time to get back into the swing of things. I have tons of stuff that I plan to do, and things are going to start changing around here.
For starters, I am going to go through and update all of the PDF patterns. The pictures for some of the patterns are kind of bad and don't accurately represent the colors. And since I've recently learned how to better edit my photos in Photoshop, I've decided that all of the pictures are getting redone. I've also been thinking about revamping the layout of the patterns, making them easier to read and adding more details (I've been meaning to add a tips section for a while now).
Plus, I have a new thing that is going to be happening on the blog. I have TONS of patterns that I've made that just aren't up to par. I was just going to let these "failed" patterns rot in the depths of my computer, but I've come up with a plan:
Failed Pattern Fridays
Basically every Friday I will upload a pattern solely to the blog, not on Ravelry or Etsy or anywhere else. These patterns will be 100% free and you can use them however you wish. I hope that they can be of use to someone, because I certainly am not going to do anything with them.
And that's just the tip of the update iceberg. For now, have a pattern.
A 10" tall Mewtwo amigurumi. The pattern is available on Ravelry or in my Etsy shop. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at icrochetthings@gmail.com.
Just one thing to note here: I started to try out making the patterns a little more easily readable, and one of the things I did was add more spaces between some parts in the pattern. These spaces mean nothing, just continue with the pattern as if they never existed. Another thing to note: Mewtwo does have a mouth, you just can't see it in any of these pictures. It is a few rows under the nostrils and is just one little line. I mention this just in case anyone sees the "embroider mouth" instructions and gets confused. When I update the patterns, I'll include a picture of it.
With this amigurumi I decided to try something new. Instead of the typical "cute" style of big head, big eyes, small body, I wanted to try a more realistic design. I googled pictures of Mewtwo and chose a random pose for him to be standing in and tried my best to get the proportions correct. Not bad for a first attempt I think, and it was pretty fun to make. Expect more "realistic" amigurumi to be coming eventually.
This was also my first time using sewing thread to embroider anything. Jeez, and I thought I hated using felt because I couldn't get the pieces to match. Trying to get the irises the same size was definitely a challenge, but I do like how it turned out. I would probably use purple felt instead of thread for the eyes, but I didn't have any. I recommend anyone making this pattern to try felt first before resorting to embroidery (provided you're bad at it like me).
Anyway, apologies for the lack of patterns. I am particularly happy with how my newest pattern is turning out. Expect it to be uploaded within the next week, and I will see you next Friday for the first edition of Failed Pattern Friday. Happy Holidays! :)
